Our Teachers

Hello. My name is Abby Hodgkins, also known as Miss Abby, and I’m GBLB’s Owner and Director. With the knowledge acquired from my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, as well as a few business courses, I opened the doors to GBLB in 2004. I also hold certifications through the Department of Early Education and Care of Massachusetts as Director 2, Lead Preschool and Lead Infant/Toddler teacher. I have been excitedly involved in the field of child care since 1997, and gained some of my hands-on knowledge from a prior teaching position of 6 years at a private child care center in Hamilton, MA. I have a wonderful husband, Ben, and we have three children all of whom have attended GBLB between the years of 2006 & 2018. GBLB is an extension of our family and we treat each and every child as such.

The GBLB staff are all highly qualified professionals in the child care field. Most of the staff hold degrees or courses towards the field of Early Childhood Education. All of the staff are certified through the Department of Early Education and Care as being teacher qualified in either or both Infant/Toddler and/or Preschool. All staff participate in Background Record Checks consisting of a Criminal Offenders Record Investigation, a Department of Children and Families check, a Sex-Offender Registry check, a finger-printing check, a professional and personal reference check, as well as first and second interviews with both myself and fellow staff members.

GBLB boasts an attentive staff whose main priority is safety in regards to your child’s day. All staff are CPR & First Aid certified. Our Curriculum Coordinator maintains an extensive curriculum which focuses on learning through play, language arts, math, science, history, the arts, music and physical activity. Daily notes will be sent home, written in a journal, or posted on the parent boards daily or weekly, and of course we all invite parents to speak with the staff upon drop-off, pick-up, or via phone, text, or email. We also ask that upon enrollment all new families subscribe to our blog newsfeed as this is the most convenient way for you to stay up-to-date on daily and weekly happenings at GBLB. Thank you for entrusting your “most prized possession” in our care!
